I receive dthe invite few minutes ago.
Thank you, here I am!
I'm an italian teacher (17-18teen) in electronics and telecomunications.
The virtual world where I live is SecondLife but I've never brought my students in a virtual world.
I have a year of experience in SL as resident but I can't find a really effective mode to make students learn in vw.
I hope having a lot of cue and suggestion in this group.
Bye
Eleonora Porta

Hi there,
I'm a teacher of English in a language center, I teach regular, intensive and special courses. Also, I'm a tutor in a BA in ELT (Licenciatura en Docencia del Idioma Ingles) in F2F and online groups. I work at the Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa, Mexico.
I love searching for new ways to make lessons more productive, interactive, engaging, innovative, and interesting to help learners in their journey through English.
I'm open to new ideas and I would like to exchange opinions about the best ways to do our job in the language classroom.
Regards!
Carlos Raul Lopez Reatiga

I'm an Italian teacher in a Liceo scientifico and I have the same problem of Eleonora...about using Second Life at school.
I esplored Active worlds too but I think Sl is more interesting for students.
But how about Teen Second Life? Is anybody in Italy who uses this Grid?
Bye

Hi. My name is Daniel Green, I work for Sun Microsystems in the Midwest. I teach computer club workshops for students 9-16 in conjunction with local high schools and universities. I plan to use Sun Project Wonderland if I can arrange the classroom scenario to support a shared server connection. I also have setup the WiiMote head tracking demo and would like to start using WiiMote IWB for class sessions. More info at http://blogs.sun.com/dang - Thanks.

I'm Katherine Mancuso / Muse Carmona. In my "day" job I work at the Center for Assistive Technology & Environmental Access building web tools for STEM education for people with disabilities (target audience 14-22), and we are soon to expand to the virtual world space. In my "night" job I work for The Vesuvius Group, a collaborative of artists and technicians for hire who work in nonprofit, education, arts, and other public sector applications of virtual worlds. We are particularly looking forward to this conference because we have a specialty in the SL Teen Grid, and are open to discussing in-kind sponsorship.

My name is Todd Edwards. My area of interest is Mathematics Education. Right now my students (future math teachers) and I use Ning (mathtech.ning.com), our university's Blackboard site, and Skype to communicate, share ideas, and keep in touch with local educators.

I like Ning because anyone can join the site (unlike Blackboard) and Ning provides us with a way to share java applets that we create. You should check out our site if you have a moment.

Hi, I am an educator and Virtual World facilitator working in ICT4Emergence. We have a project going in the Dominican Republic--Republica Dominicana Virtual located in SL at:
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Ontos/82/114/23/?title=Funglode%20Virtu...
with an accompanying ning: www.funglode.ning.com/
Newest project is http://gnctc4emerge.ning.com/
GlobeNet of Community TeleCenters for Emergence which has just moved into the Reaction Grid on Open Sim where we will be developing an associated grid.
My other job is Directing a Performing Arts Center at a small liberal arts college in Vermont, Dibden Center for the Arts at Johnson State College where I also teach Lighting and Scene Design along with Technical Theater.
I haven't had much luck with getting college students interested in virtual worlds--but I am still trying! Looking forward to collaborating and sharing with this group.
All the best,
Jan

Hi there! I'm the social networks adviser for Penn State World Campus (the online/distance education campus of Penn State). We're using Second Life to give our online students (mostly adults) their own version of the 'campus experience'. Some World Campus faculty are starting to explore the use of Second Life for teaching, but we're focusing on using Second Life just to build community among our students and give them a way to connect/meet and experience the university in ways they couldn't otherwise. Great to connect with all of you!
